Welcome to the Office of Institutional Advancement, IIT Madras

Founded in 2015 with three IITM alumni, the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA), IIT Madras actively engages with and fosters meaningful partnerships with IITM alumni, well-wishers and corporates. Through its outreach and fundraising activities, OIA brings IIT Madras closer to the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan 2027. Amongst other objectives, the office works to raise funds through corporates and IITM alumni to advance research, technology, education, and infrastructure at IIT Madras. The office also enables partnerships under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with like-minded corporates on various technology-driven social transformation initiatives. We are socially minded, aligning with IIT M's history of technological innovations for social impact, and we engage with the surrounding community and society to multiply the positive impact of our campus.

In 2021-22, OIA raised a historic all-time high funding amount of INR 131 crore from alumni, donors, and corporate firms to further its philanthropic and socially relevant projects.

IITM takes pride in its robust, active 50,000+ alumni network. With increasing support from alumni year on year, IIT Madras has been able to institute chair professorships, undertake infrastructure projects on campus, and fund scholarships and endowments for deserving students. We have entirely volunteer-driven alumni chapters worldwide, with alumni who are passionate about supporting their alma mater in its pursuit of world-class research creating global impact.

We have also emerged as a market leader in the CSR space in India. Today, we are the chosen partner of 140+ leading corporates, PSUs and institutions and implement projects worth INR 200+ crores across India on a wide range of social themes from agriculture to artificial intelligence and energy to education.

We seek to develop mutually beneficial relationships with alumni, corporates, foundations, and trusts that contribute to the institute and ensure these relationships grow over the years.
